At the moment, the value of a theory is massively dependent on the application. I find dimensional representations very useful for describing the emotional colouring in relatively normal discourse, but facial animators may not. In the long run, the really important theories will be the ones that are useful in a wide of apparently very different settings. I'm not convinced we have ant yet, though.
