Postdoctoral positions in emotion research at the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences, University of Geneva

As part of the second phase of an Advanced Grant of the European Research Council (ERC) to Prof. Klaus R. Scherer (see ) for a project on the Production and Perception of Emotion (PROPEREMO; see ), the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences will fill two postdoctoral positions in emotion research at the University of Geneva. Priority will be given to candidates with interests and competencies in one or more of the following areas of research: Appraisal processes (including the role of appraisal biases in emotional disturbance), vocal and facial emotion expression, affective computing, modeling, and emotion in virtual reality, cross-cultural and cross-linguistic comparison, music and aesthetic emotions. However, excellent applications from candidates with related research profiles and strong methodological competence will also be considered. Our group uses a multidisciplinary, multi-method approach. It is part of the University of Geneva's Interfaculty Center of Affective Sciences (CISA; see ) which provides an excellent research environment with more than 50 emotion researchers from many different disciplines. Advanced research infrastructures are available at the Center and the Brain and Behaviour Laboratory ( Postdocs also profit from the Post-doctoral program in the Affective Sciences organized by the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences and its annual summer school. Candidates from different disciplines with experience in empirical emotion research are encouraged to apply. Requirements are, in addition to an excellent academic background with extensive theoretical and methodological knowledge in emotion research, strong interest in motivation to work on emotion processes, willingness to invest in interdisciplinary collaboration, and a very good command of the English language. Postdoctoral contracts generally run for two years but applications for shorter periods are acceptable. Salary levels (before taxes and social charges) are around 70'000 CHF/year.
