Portal migration successful
The HUMAINE portal has moved to the new server of the HUMAINE Association
The site doesn't seem to look any different yet, but major changes have happened under the surface:
- the portal is running on a server at Strato, rented by the HUMAINE Association;
- the plone software has been updated to the latest release, Plone 3.0.3 -- a major step requiring many big and small adaptations.
These two important changes were needed to open up the route for the HUMAINE Association which is to inherit the portal from the HUMAINE project; with a dedicated server and the latest and most flexible Plone release, future updates and enhancements are as easy as they can be!
Please verify that everything you expect to work is indeed working, and report any problems you encounter!
Important changes ahead
Now that the server is up and running, expect more visible changes to come. The most important ones are listed below.
Portal to undergo structural changes
The portal will gradually change from a project website to a community website. An editorial board will be formed deciding on the future structure and services provided to portal members, for example:
- public and private portal spaces for initiatives: projects, special interest groups (SIGs),
workshops, conferences
- mailing lists for general announcements and for SIGs
- members-only content: databases, videos, possibly tutorials / teaching material
Portal membership restricted to Association members
From 2008, only members of the Association will get an account on the portal. Portal members who have not yet joined the Association can do so by filling in the online registration form. After some time, inactive accounts will be deleted.
