Coding and analyzing emotional gestures: comparison of different models and methods.

— filed under:

A workshop on "emotional gestures", hosted by HUMAINE-WP3 and by the Swiss NCCR in Affective Sciences, January, 8th-10th 2007, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Gestures are an often overlooked but nevertheless very important channel for the expression and communication of emotions. Furthermore, the analysis of emotional gestures - and the methods used in that field - might play a key-role in the evolution of some central theoretical issues. Issues related to the postulated "synchronization" across expressive channels during emotional episodes, in particular, could be addressed through detailed dynamic analyses of gestures and their relationships with other expressive channels.

This workshop will bring together people interested in the study of emotional gestures. It will allow:
- to compare different approaches (models and methods) to the study of emotional gestures
- and to outline the grounds for future collaboration.

The workshop will take place in Geneva from the 8th to the 10th of Januray.

A detailed program of the workshop will be posted in the coming weeks.
