Call for Proposals to host ACII2009

Since the First International Conference on Affective Computing and Intelligent Interaction (ACII2005) was successfully held in Beijing, ACII has become a central event for researchers studying and developing the role of emotion and other affective phenomena as these relate to human-computer and human-robot interaction, graphics, AI, robotics, vision, speech, synthetic characters, games, educational software, and related areas. From ACII2007 which was held in Lisbon with an attendance of around 150, ACII has become an event of HUMAINE Association.

This call asks for proposals to host ACII2009. If you think you'd like to host ACII2009, please submit a proposal including:

(1)   Who you are (the organizing team) and any previous experience you have of running conferences in ACII-related and other fields.

(2)   A description of the proposed venue, including meeting facilities, accommodation and travel access.

(3)   An outline budget (likely costs and expenditure), potential financial support.

(4)   Important dates.

(5)   Connected conferences or workshops.

(6)   Hot topics.

(A PPT file will be welcome)

The evaluation criteria will include:

(1)   Professionalism of proposal and track record of the proposers.

(2)   Cost effectiveness (An important goal is to facilitate the participation of students and young researchers, so keeping the cost of attendance low is also an important criterion).

(3)   Accessibility of the location (i.e. access to airports, etc).

(4)   Venue attractiveness (e.g. quality of facilities and support of "togetherness").

In keeping with past events, there are some additional requirements:

(1)   The proceedings of ACII2009 should follow the format made by HUMAINE Association.

(2)   The committees of ACII2009 should be approved by EC of HUMAINE Association.

(3)   There should be the discount of registration fee for HUMAINE Association members.
