Digital Media department at Drexel University invites applications for open PhD positions, in particular on Affective Computing, Intelligent Virtual Agents, and Computational and Interactive Narrative. DEADLINE: December 31st, 2015

The Digital Media department at Drexel University invites applications for two open PhD positions.

DEADLINE: December 31st, 2015

RESEARCH TOPICS:

Applicants are expected to have a strong background in Digital Media and a clear idea for their future research.
This is an open call, and any topic in Digital Media is welcome, but a connection to one or more of the core research topics of the department is necessary.

In particular, we request applicants interested in:

- High Frame Rate Animation
- Intelligent Virtual Agents and Affective Computing
- Computational and Interactive Narrative
- Virtual/Augmented Reality and Interaction Devices

- Artificial Intelligence for Digital Media
- Digital Cultural Heritage
- Digital Humanities
- Human-Computer Interaction and User Experience Design
- Medical Applications of Digital Media
- Mobility and Gaming
- Pedagogical Applications of Digital Media
- Serious Games

Applicants must be strongly motivated for doctoral studies, possess the ability to work independently and to perform critical analysis, as well as possess a high level of cooperative and communicative skills.

STARTING DATE: Fall 2016

ACADEMIC CONTEXT:

Drexel's Digital Media department is part of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design.
It is located in the new URBN Center designed to be an incubator for tomorrow’s creative leaders.
The Game Design programs offered by the department have been consistently ranked in the top 10 US-based programs by Princeton Review.
Currently, the Department consist of 10 tenured/tenure-track and 5 contract faculty and hosts 287 undergraduate and graduate students.

Funding: Internal, combined with teaching assistantship.

Conditions:
- Full-time employment, health-care benefits included
- Work commitment: 20 hours per week, including 10 hours teaching (one course per term on average)
