Post-doctoral research position in the Geneva Emotion Research Group
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research position in the Geneva Emotion Research Group at the University of Geneva (Olfactory perception and emotion). The successful applicant is expected to perform research activities on the emotion processes related to olfaction and taste.
The successful applicant will work in the Geneva Emotion Research Group
directed by Prof. Klaus R. Scherer that investigates emotion processes
in various domains (see http://www.unige.ch/fapse/emotion/). The
nominee is expected to perform research activities on the emotion
processes related to olfaction and taste.
In addition to conducting a series of experimental studies, the nominee will prepare research reports and manuscripts for publication related to the effects of odours on appraisal processes and consequent emotional responses. Research will lead to the analysis of various odour categories and their prototypical nature (odour characterisation). A multicomponential approach consisting in measuring behavioural, subjective, physiological, and brain components of emotional reactions to odours is planned.
Applicants must hold a PhD in psychology or in cognitive science with a strong interest in emotion processes and odour perception. Additional requirements are experience in conducting experimental research, as well as skills in statistics and methodology. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in measuring and interpreting central and peripheral physiological response parameters.
Applicants must also have good communication skills and excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Fluent French is not required but constitutes an asset.
The position is funded for a period of two years and can be filled immediately. The salary level depends on experience and expertise, starting at around CHF 80'000 per year.
