First HUMAINE Workshop – Geneva June 2004 Theories and Models of Emotion

!! Dates for the workshop: June 17-19 !!

Location: University of Geneva, UNI MAIL, 40 boulevard du Pont d'Arve, 1205 Geneva.

The workshop will start Thursday night at 6 pm (Welcome & Reception / Poster Session) and finish Saturday night around 6 pm. The program will be posted as soon as possible.

Call for Demonstrations of Artificial Emotion Systems

Following the stimulating presentations and discussions at the plenary meeting, we have decided to organize a half-day session of hands-on demonstrations and discussions of various kinds of artificial emotion systems (e.g., robots, neural networks, expert systems, ECA) at the Geneva Workshop. The idea is to present, at a plenary meeting, 4-6 actually operative systems (about 20 minutes each, including brief factual questions). The authors/system architects should provide an insight into the theoretical considerations that have guided their implementation and to identify important problems. Most importantly, they should pose theoretical questions that they would need answers on to proceed with modeling. These presentations will be followed by a podium discussion between these experts and experts on emotion theories/models as well as experts on computational implementation.

Author/architects interested in presenting and discussing their systems are asked to send a 1-2 page(s) description of their proposal by e-mail to david.sander@pse.unige.ch

DEADLINE: April 30, 2004

The program committee will choose the 4-6 representative systems that seem best suited for the goal of the presentation/discussion: highlighting the issues involved in choosing and operationalizing theoretical models for implementation. The program committee will ask the authors of selected systems to provide online information on the portal, so that discussions may already develop on the portal before the workshop.
