Workshop on

 “Communication and

 Emotion”

Trento, November 17-18, 2005.
WP8 workshop - Trento

This is a call for short presentations, posters or demonstrations for a session entitled “Communication and Emotions” to be held on November 18-19, 2005 in Trento, Italy. The workshop will be concerned with critical issues for building persuasive, or otherwise emotion-inducing computational systems. WP8 has a specific computational and constructive aspect and so demonstrations experimenting specific concepts in view of a novel class of systems will be particularly welcome.

The two main thematic areas of the Workshop will be: (1) basic persuasive communication and (2) creativity for persuasive communication.

Topics covered by this call include (but are not limited to) the main aspects of the Workshop:

• Theoretical models of persuasion that can be used for the creation of  persuasive systems.
• Presentation of demos, mock-ups, prototypes, WOZ experiments and parts of systems for emotional persuasive interaction.
• Role of elements like music, humour, gaze, politeness and deceit in emotional persuasive interaction.
• Ethical issues and ethical systems for persuasive communications
• Affective language and lexicon
• Evaluation methodologies of persuasive systems
• Cross-WP issues and collaborations

Submission information:

Participants wishing to present their work in an oral communication, a poster, a demo or an oral communication plus demo, should send a short description (between 1 and 3 A4 pages) of this work by e-mail to Oliviero Stock:

Please send your contribution as attached PDF  or Word documents. To be considered, all submissions must include the following information:

a) Title, author and contact details: Title, name(s) of author(s), affiliation(s), email(s) and telephone(s) number(s)

b) Preferred form of presentation (oral, poster, demo, oral + demo)

In submitting your contribution specify, in the subject of the e-mail: “contribution for WP8 Workshop”
