Gualtiero Volpe, computer engineer, is an Associate Professor at Casa Paganini - InfoMus, DIBRIS - University of Genoa, Italy. He received his PhD in Computer Engineering in 2003. His research interests include intelligent and affective human-machine interaction, modelling and real-time analysis and synthesis of expressive content, multimodal interactive systems, and analysis of social interaction. He was Chairman of the 5th International Gesture Workshop (GW2003), of the 8th International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME2008) and of the 5th International Conference on Movement and Computing (MOCO2018). He was Guest Editor of special issues for Journal of New Music Research, Journal on Multimodal User Interfaces, Entertainment Computing, and IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing. He has a longstanding experience in participation in and management of European projects since FP5. He was work-package leader in the EU-IST Project MEGA (FP5), in the EU-ICT Project TAI-CHI and in the EU-ICT-FET CA S2S^2 (FP6), in the EU-ICT Project SAME and in the EU-ICT-FET Project SIEMPRE (FP7). He was work-package leader and local project manager in the EU-ICT Project MIROR (FP7), in the EU-ICT-FET Project ILHAIRE (FP7), in the EU-ICT Project TELMI (H2020), and in the EU-ICT Project weDRAW (H2020). He also participated in national projects and coordinated local research projects. He was President of AIMI (Italian Association for Musical Informatics) from 2010 to 2014. He is author or co-author of more than 150 scientific publications.
