Dr. Jesse Hoey is associate professor in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo, where he leads the Computational Health Informatics Laboratory (CHIL). He has degrees from McGill University (B.Sc. Physics, 1992) and the University of British Columbia (M.Sc. Physics, 1996) and (Ph.D. Computer Science, 2004). He works on problems in computational social science, automated reasoning, affective computing and rehabilitation science. He was program chair for the 2016 Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare, and the chair of the Alzheimer's Association Technology Professional Interest Area (2015-2017).
