Short biography of Ben (L.J.M.) Mulder
Dr.ir. Ben (L.J.M.) Mulder (1948) is associate professor and senior scientist at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. He has a background in bio-medical engineering and later specialized in psychophysiology. He obtained a PhD (1988) on the assessment of cardiovascular reactivity by means of spectral analysis, in which he developed a methodology for measurement and analysis of cardiovascular time series for studying the effects of mental workload and stress. This work served as the foundation for systems that process cardiovascular signals both on-line and off-line. He has developed a range of courses on measurement, analysis and the signal processing of EEG and various bio-signals. Furthermore, he teached for several years in courses in biopsychology, stress and physiological control, cognitive ergonomics, robotics, and modeling. Throughout the years, he has been involved in a broad range of national and international projects. Currently, his main interests are in the domain of adaptive automation, using simulated work environments.
