Home page for Dr. Vinoba VinayagamoorthyDescribes my work in my recently completed thesis.
My interests include the representation of perceived internal states in virtual characters within the context of an immersive virtual environment. There are two overlapping stages to this process: the modelling of internal states (generation) and expressing these internal states as nonverbal behaviours. The aim of this research is to enhance the perception of an affective state in virtual humans and investigate the kinds of responses the virtual human elicits in an individual. This research focuses on studying both avatars and agents in conjunction with a number of behaviours including: posture, body-movement and eye-gaze with respect to effective and affective communication in an IVE.
