Abdolhossein Sarrafzadeh is a Senior Lecturer at Massey University in New Zealand. His main areas of research are Affective Tutoring Systems and Machine Translation. He leads the Next Generation Intelligent Tutoring Systems research group at Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand. This project has resulted in the development of facial expression analysis and gesture recognition tools that have been integrated into an intelligent maths tutor called "Easy with Eve". Easy with Eve expresses emotions through a life-like agent called Eve. Easy with Eve has been tested in primary schools in Auckland, New Zealand. Several PhD students are involved in the Next Generation Intelligent Tutoring Systems Project (http://ngits.massey.ac.nz) and the project invites other potential students interested in the topic to contact the project leader for possible PhD projects.
